WGSN says the defining theme of 2027 is “interconnectedness”, specifically the connection between opposites: lightness and darkness, nature and technology, the ancient and the contemporary, online and offline, rationality and spirituality. Pantone’s Colour of the Year is the other big name in this conversation, and it has not been announced yet. Pantone usually reveals its pick in early December; its 2026 choice was Cloud Dancer, a soft white. We will update this article as soon as the 2027 shade is announced.
We do already know Pantone’s view of the season, though. Electric blues in this family have been building on the catwalks for several seasons, at labels including Helen Anthony, Fiorucci, Walter Van Beirendonck, Imane Ayissi and Jil Sander, where blue came in patent leather and coated high-shine surfaces.
