Blumarine’s creative director, Nicola Brognano, continued to explore the 2000s trend with confidence, citing Gisele Bündchen as his latest muse in this collection. Despite moving away from the naughty teenager image, the Blumarine girl remains provocative and sexy with exposed midriffs, bare legs, and alluring décolletage. Brognano’s visual codes have been reworked into Blumarine’s signature baby pink, deep red, and grunge-ish black palette, resulting in a mature and sensual collection. Brognano describes this collection to WWD as “a girl who used to dream in her bedroom, now she’s grown up and stepping outside into the real world.”
Bold red knee-high boots and slingback pumps add contrast, while 2000s-inspired items such as miniskirts, snug-fitting dresses, slinky minidresses in bold florals, and some fuzzy bags bring a touch of nostalgia. Denim sets and cargo pants in black and brown add dimension to the clothes. Brognano upped the ante with cargo pants in pink and some low-slung bell bottoms in golden leather. The newly confident Blumarine girl is revealed through sensual jackets and flirty 9-to-5 dresses.
Fueled by the timeless allure of the early 2000s, he relentlessly churns out fresh iterations of the iconic style that has catapulted Blumarine into gradually becoming a mainstream brand of the fashion stratosphere. Nicola Brognano has deftly reimagined the Y2K aesthetic, embracing its overtly feminine aesthetic to cater to an enthusiastic female clientele, firmly establishing his reign in the Blumarine legacy.
