Dilara Findikoglu truly killed it in this collection. It was actually quite a surprise, She just unleashed her unmistakable potential. This collection, “Freedom is a Two Edged Sword,” is a reflection of her spiritual journey. Findikoglu put on a show in a rundown Victorian mansion in Lancaster Gate, away from the chaos of the world.
This collection is showcased through four phases. The first phase, ‘Trapped Child’ depicts a sense of confinement and helplessness. The second stage, ‘Chained Good Girl’ symbolizes the societal expectations and norms that restrict an individual’s freedom of expression. The third phase, ‘The Funeral of Dilara’s Own Past’ represents a transformative moment where the protagonist lays to rest her former self and begins anew. Finally, the fourth and last phase, ‘Her Re-birth’ embodies a sense of rejuvenation and liberation.
The clothes combine elegance and eerie to showcase some masterfully crafted clothes. Each look carried a raw sensual magnetism while playing around with traditionally feminine and historic clothing motifs. Each look is loaded with drama and grunge aims to captivate the viewer. There was a bit of cottagecore blended with some intense witchcore among countless other references. We witness a stunning collection that skillfully navigates between delicate, lingerie-inspired ensembles and tough armor-like dresses adorned with dining knives and hair clips. Each piece exudes powerful femininity, boldly embracing vulnerability like a true queen.
Renowned for blending subcultural elements with social commentary, her designs merge artisanal traditions with punk elements and couture sensibility. The collection was both hauntingly beautiful and unmistakably dark, reflecting the designer’s cultural weight, which has been increasing year by year. Dilara Findikoglu created an unnerving spectacle, set to the beat of stilettos clacking on wooden floors.
Dark, desirable and sensuous – There aren’t enough words to describe the magnificence of this collection. It was hauntingly beautiful.
