Julien Dossena’s Rabanne felt energetic, textured, and slightly rebellious. The styling stood out immediately. There was a playful spirit running through the show, and many of the looks felt easy to imagine in real wardrobes. It was the kind of collection where different pieces could appeal to different people, which made the lineup feel approachable.
The starting point came from vintage 1940s tea dresses that Dossena found while exploring markets and shops in London. Those references appeared throughout the collection but were handled in a loose, modern way rather than feeling nostalgic. The soft silhouettes of those dresses were layered with chunky knit sweaters, paired with oversized plaid jackets, and sometimes transformed with fringe or metal mesh.
Texture played a major role. Sequins, crystals, chain mail, fur trims, and jacquard knits were combined across many looks. A delicate tea dress could shift into heavy swinging fringe, while tailored blazers were punctured with oversized metal grommets that looked like bold piercings. These contrasts created a subtle punk attitude without losing the femininity of the pieces.
Color and styling choices added even more personality. Burgundy trenches with electric blue fur collars or brown jackets with bright pink accents created unexpected combinations. The layers also felt intentional, with sweaters, dresses, and outerwear stacked together in ways that felt relaxed rather than overly styled.
At its core, the collection explored a version of femininity that felt real and slightly imperfect. Dossena seemed interested in how women actually dress, mixing pieces together with instinct rather than strict rules.
