Haider Ackermann’s latest outing for Tom Ford felt like corporate dressing turned slightly dangerous. The opening looks immediately set the tone. Black and white dominated the runway, with sharp tailoring and clean silhouettes that felt very office coded, but in a grown up, seductive Tom Ford way. This was boardroom and late night power energy.
Ackermann started with strong tailoring. Double breasted suits, crisp shirts, and structured jackets gave the collection a clear backbone. But the styling kept things interesting. Trousers hung low on the hips, sometimes barely held in place by thin belts that looked almost like delicate waist chains. It added just the right amount of tension to otherwise classic pieces.
Then came the unexpected twist. Transparent PVC pieces appeared throughout the show, from cropped blazers to trenches and even skirts. It could have felt gimmicky, but instead it looked surprisingly sleek. The sheer layers revealed lace undergarments and logo stockings underneath, turning practical rainwear materials into something subtly provocative.
Small details carried a lot of personality too. The collars stood out in particular. Some were perforated leather, others sharply contrasting in color or texture. They broke up the uniformity of the shirts and made the tailoring feel playful rather than rigid. The collection also introduced dark rinse denim, creased and slightly faded, cut in relaxed silhouettes for women and ultra high waisted styles for men. It felt like Ackermann loosening the formality just a little without losing the brand’s signature polish.
Eveningwear stayed minimal this season with just two black dresses featuring delicate strap details. Compared to the rest of the lineup, they felt almost restrained. Ackermann seems increasingly comfortable inside the Tom Ford universe. Sexy, but never trying too hard.
