Michael Rider’s third outing at Celine felt very Parisian. The clothes had that effortless, slightly mysterious attitude the city is known for. Nothing looked forced, yet every detail felt considered. It was a collection where styling did a lot of the talking, and it worked.
This season, Rider moved away from the preppy mood that defined his earlier shows and leaned into sharper tailoring and slimmer silhouettes. Jackets were cut close to the body, trousers were narrow or slightly flared, and overcoats followed clean, precise lines. After years of oversized shapes dominating fashion, the shift toward a more fitted silhouette felt refreshing. It brought a sense of polish without feeling stiff.
The cuts were especially strong. Blazers flared subtly at the waist, cropped jackets created interesting proportions, and kick-flare trousers added a playful twist to otherwise classic tailoring. These were chic shapes that looked modern but still rooted in Celine’s refined DNA.
Color also played a quiet but intriguing role. Alongside classic neutrals, pops of green, red, fuchsia, and purple appeared throughout the collection, sometimes paired with leopard print. The palette kept things visually interesting without overwhelming the clothes.
Styling elevated everything further. Wide-rim bowler hats, sculptural leather scarves, mismatched earrings, and those bright white boots added personality to the looks. Some scarves even covered the lower half of the face, giving the collection a slightly eccentric edge. It felt styled, but not overly polished.
Rider describes his approach as intuitive rather than conceptual, and that energy was clear on the runway. The collection wasn’t about one big idea. Instead, it was about clothes with character. Familiar pieces like jackets, coats, and trousers were reworked just enough to feel new.
