There was something quietly cinematic about Lanvin. Peter Copping leaned into the elegance of the 1920s and 1930s, and the result felt very vintage chic. Not costume-like, a little mysterious. The show opened with tailoring that nodded to Lanvin’s menswear history. Structured coats, coatdresses, and skirts came in traditional fabrics, often cinched at the waist to soften the masculine influence. Some pieces had asymmetrical draping or godets at the hem that added movement. The tailoring was solid, but it mostly worked as a calm introduction before the dresses started appearing.

And once the dresses arrived, the collection really found its rhythm. Copping presented a series of draped, elongated silhouettes that felt both elegant and slightly dramatic. One black silk dress with a high neck and draping at the hip immediately stood out. The same shape appeared again later in velvet and floral versions, proving how strong the cut actually was. It was simple, but in a very intentional way.

The styling pushed the mood further. Tall boots, heavy stoles, and oversized hats created a slightly dark glamour. At times it almost felt like the wardrobe of a stylish female villain in an old black and white film. The kind of character who enters a room and instantly controls it.

Even when silhouettes became more dramatic, they never felt overdone. The balance between structure and fluidity kept everything grounded. Copping clearly understands Lanvin’s strength in dressmaking, and he leaned into it without hesitation. This collection felt refreshingly focused. Just strong tailoring, beautiful fabrics, and dresses that actually make you want to wear them. Sometimes that’s all a house like Lanvin really needs.
