Antonin Tron’s debut at Balmain was a strong and confident start. It felt powerful, chic, and very clear in its direction. Instead of trying to reinvent the house completely, Tron chose to reconnect with its foundations while bringing the energy into the present.
The collection looked back to the early years of Pierre Balmain, particularly the late 1940s when the brand first emerged in postwar Paris. Tron studied the archives closely and translated that era’s restrained glamour into something modern. His idea of “minimal opulence” defined the whole show. The clothes were luxurious, but in a quieter, more controlled way.
There was a strong sense of structure throughout the collection. Sculpted shoulders, sharp tailoring, and pilot jackets brought a powerful silhouette that instantly recalled Balmain’s military edge. At the same time, Tron balanced that strength with fluid draping and body-skimming dresses that added softness and movement. The contrast between tailoring and sensuality gave the collection its rhythm.
Film noir heroines seemed to hover over the runway. Many of the silhouettes echoed that cinematic elegance with fitted sleeves, gathered waists, and pencil skirt shapes that highlighted the body without feeling overly dramatic. It felt mysterious and a little dark, which suited the collection’s mostly nocturnal palette of black, oxblood, deep green, and midnight blue.
Animal prints also played an important role. Leopard, tiger, and crocodile references appeared through detailed embroidery, leather textures, and airy organza layers. These touches added a bit of boldness without pushing the collection into excess. The clothes felt cool, confident, and unapologetically sexy in that classic Balmain way. Tron clearly respects the house’s DNA, but he is also simplifying it.
