Andrea Pompilio’s collection for Onitsuka Tiger was unexpectedly one of the most fun shows of the season. It had this cool, youthful energy that immediately made the collection feel fresh and easy to connect with. The whole thing felt like a playful campus world where fashion rules were a little loose and personality came first.
The inspiration pulled heavily from Japanese pop culture, especially manga aesthetics and the colorful energy of Tokyo streets. Pompilio also explored the Japanese concept of “Ma,” which refers to the meaningful space between things. In practice, that idea translated into outfits that balanced opposites. Formal tailoring met casual sportswear, pastels mixed with bold textures, and structured pieces were softened with playful details.
School uniform references became a central theme. Pleated mini skirts, blazers, striped tees, and vintage-inspired jackets gave the collection a manga-style campus vibe. Some looks felt like quirky characters walking through a fictional school hallway. There were “too cool for school” skater boys, slightly eccentric professors, and playful schoolgirl silhouettes.
The styling leaned into Gen Z’s love of mixing pieces in unexpected ways. Fuzzy fleece jackets layered over delicate pastel skirts, feather-textured pencil skirts paired with check shirts, and puffers in mint, orange, and brown added sporty balance. Bows appeared everywhere, from georgette blouses to mini dresses and accessories, adding a subtle bow-core touch without feeling overdone.
Footwear was easily the standout moment. The brand’s classic Mexico 66 sneaker returned in a squared-toe update and playful prints, but the real star was the kitten-heeled version. That small twist turned a familiar sneaker into something surprisingly chic and a little mischievous. Sometime all I need is a vibe and love to see it.
