Ralph Lauren does not need to prove longevity at this point, but this season felt like a reminder of why he is still relevant. After returning to the Milan runway for menswear, he brought that same rugged polish back to New York, staging Fall 2026 at the Jack Shainman Gallery in a space transformed into a moody country estate. Forest murals, antique rugs, velvet curtains. It felt cinematic but grounded.
The collection leaned into texture in a way that made you want to reach out and touch everything. Tweed corsets, hand worked leather, velvet gowns, chainmail knits. More than 50 custom fabrics were developed, and you could feel that care in every look. It led the narrative. Donegal tweed was corseted and sculpted, bouclé structured and weighty. Distressed leather toughened aviator pants and hardware heavy belts, even slicing through velvet gowns. Plush velvet, smocked taffeta, and chain laced knits layered softness against strength, romantic but grounded, dramatic yet completely wearable.
The balance was classic Lauren: riding boots anchoring sweeping skirts, a chunky toggle cardigan thrown over tailored trousers, a tweed blazer cutting through a beaded evening dress. Gigi Hadid opened in a boucle tweed corset and closed in a brown velvet halter gown cinched with a leather O ring belt, summing up the show’s duality. Strength and romance. Armor and softness. Even the medieval references felt wearable rather than theatrical.
At 86, Lauren is refining a world he built decades ago. This was about texture, craft, and the kind of confidence that just is.
