Tory Burch felt almost free floating, but still deeply feminine. There was a lightness to everything, even when the pieces themselves were rooted in something practical. It was bright but it never lost its sense of polish. This was upscale dressing, but approachable. Nothing felt out of reach.

The starting point was personal. Burch looked to her father’s corduroy trousers, reworking them into slouchy wide wale pants in warm apricot and saffron tones. That idea of familiarity carried throughout the collection. Crewneck sweaters layered over collared shirts, roomy shirtwaist dresses, and soft tailoring all felt grounded in real life. But the magic was in the details; like mukaish embroidery on a beige gold coat was sublime. Metallic landscape jacquards turned outerwear into something more expressive. Even small accessories like sardine pins, woven leather belts, and raffia bags gave the looks personality without overwhelming them.

There was also a clear influence from Bunny Mellon, whose instinctive and elegant way of dressing shaped the mood. The silhouettes referenced the past, from drop waist dresses to softly structured coats, but nothing felt stuck in nostalgia. Sheer ribbed knits and fluid silk pieces brought a modern ease that made everything feel current.

What stood out most was how democratic the collection felt. These were clothes designed to move with women’s lives. They were pragmatic, wearable, and comfortable, but never boring. The proportions were relaxed, the colors uplifting, and the overall energy quietly confident. Where many designers are searching for meaning, Burch offered something simple and honest.
