Anna Sui’s show felt like stepping inside one of those perfectly chaotic, hyper-maximalist rooms you save endlessly on Pinterest. Every look had something new to notice. The colors were rich and playful, the textures layered without hesitation, and the styling was insane.

This season, Sui looked to London’s Blitz nightclub era and the rise of the New Romantics, a moment when self-expression took over and style became theatrical. That influence showed up in dramatic brocades, faux-fur trimmed coats, and bold matching sets that refused to play it safe. A black and silver floral brocade pantsuit felt especially striking, while jaguar prints, jewel tones, and ornate patterns added depth and intensity across the collection.

What made it all work was the way everything was styled together. Nothing felt minimal or restrained. Clashing prints explain themselves through confidence. Faux fur cuffs, layered accessories, and statement silhouettes created looks that felt full but never overwhelming. It was maximalism done with precision. Every piece had its own identity, yet everything lived in the same vibrant world.

There was also a strong sense of joy throughout the show. The models looked genuinely happy, almost energized by the clothes they were wearing. These were sexy, cool, expressive outfits designed for people who want to be seen. The salon setting at the National Arts Club made it feel intimate, like you were witnessing a community rather than just a runway.

Anna Sui continues to be one of the most exciting voices of New York Fashion Week. While much of fashion leans toward ease and neutrality, she stays committed to fantasy, individuality, and optimism. Anna Sui is essential.
