There is something about a Thom Browne collection that always feels reassuring. No matter how much he experiments or builds elaborate narratives, he never loses sight of the core of what makes his work so compelling. This season, presented at San Francisco’s Legion of Honor museum ahead of the Super Bowl, felt like a return to that foundation. It was less about reinventing Browne and more about reminding everyone why his vision matters in the first place.

The collection centered on his signature tailoring, revisiting the precise sack jackets, cropped trousers, kilts, and bermuda shorts that have defined his career. The proportions were sharp but familiar, playing with the balance between structure and ease. His iconic gray suits returned alongside tailored parkas, shearling duffle coats, and flight jackets crafted in unexpected materials like waterproof cashmere. It all reinforced his ongoing conversation between formal tailoring and sportswear, which continues to feel relevant.

There were also moments of softness and imagination. A Nantucket winter scene appeared across jackets and skirts, complete with playful storytelling details, while cricket sweaters and hand-painted coats added warmth and personality. The elongated leather Perfecto jackets felt especially strong, translating something traditionally tough into something refined and elegant. The closing looks, including a tulle trench and an embroidered cape, showcased the level of craftsmanship that sets Browne apart.

Even with NFL players walking the runway and the Super Bowl context, the collection never leaned too far into spectacle. Instead, it stayed grounded in the idea of timeless clothes that exist beyond trends. It served as a reminder that sometimes, the most powerful thing a designer can do is simply return to what they do best and do it exceptionally well.
