This was different from what he usually does, and that shift worked in his favor. Instead of the loud, high-energy camp he’s known for, this season leaned into something more intimate and sensual. The mood immediately felt cinematic, almost like a scene from Wuthering Heights, where romance and melancholy exist at the same time. There was softness, but also a slight ruggedness.
The collection explored the private moments of getting dressed, drawing from Hollywood starlets of the 1920s through the 1950s. Cowan used archival lace, vintage lingerie, and delicate silks, reworking them into modern silhouettes. Bullet bras, garter belts, and corsetry were no longer hidden but became central to the look. Pieces like disheveled lace slips, liquid silk gowns that clung closely to the body, and fur-trimmed jackets created a balance between vulnerability and control. The sensuality was clear, but it never felt excessive or forced.
What stood out most was how the collection played with contrast. Structured tailoring appeared alongside fragile fabrics. Low-slung trousers grounded sheer, delicate tops. Even the gel-treated silks, pressed directly onto the body, added an element of rawness and experimentation. It all felt intentional, like Cowan was rethinking glamour in a more personal and human way.
The show opened strongly, immediately pulling you into its atmosphere. However, it moved quickly, and while there was a crystal closing look referencing his signature sparkle, it did not quite deliver the emotional peak the collection was building toward.
Still, this was one of Cowan’s most compelling collections . It showed growth. It felt more mature, more reflective, and more confident in its restraint.
