Carolina Herrera felt deeply rooted in New York, and more specifically, in the kind of woman Wes Gordon understands instinctively. His vision of the Herrera woman as cultured, artistic, and constantly in motion came through with clarity. Gordon knows Herrera just too well at this point, and that familiarity allows him to evolve the brand without losing its essence.
This season was a celebration of women in the arts, both as inspiration and presence. Real artists like Amy Sherald, Ming Smith, and Rachel Feinstein walked the runway, bringing an authenticity that made the clothes feel lived in rather than performative. The setting, designed to resemble an artist’s studio with hand painted murals, reinforced that creative energy. It did not feel forced or symbolic. It felt organic.
The collection leaned heavily into wardrobe separates, with sculpted jackets, pencil skirts, and printed blouses forming the foundation. One standout was a black suit decorated with colorful flowers, which captured that balance between discipline and play. Animal prints, calla lily details, and soft sketches of stiletto heels added subtle visual interest without overwhelming the clothes.
There was also a noticeable shift in how Gordon approached evening. Instead of traditional gowns, he focused more on cocktail dresses and sequined knit separates that felt easier and more modern. While these pieces were beautiful, it did leave you wanting just a bit more drama in terms of full eveningwear.
Still, the collection succeeded in what it set out to do. It honored artists, women, and fashion in a way that felt sincere and thoughtful. Gordon is gently expanding the scope, making space for a new kind of elegance that feels relevant now.
