Among the noise of debuts and big Paris moments, it’s easy to have missed Zimmermann’s show this season, and I’ll admit, I almost did. But once I caught up, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. If you want just really pretty clothes, this one’s for you. The colors were 10/10, the prints 10/10, and the energy felt like pure sunshine.
Titled Kindred Spirit, the collection was a love letter to the creative community of Lavender Bay in 1970s Sydney, artists who lived, worked, and played together with an effortless kind of freedom. You could feel that energy in the clothes: strapless gowns in flowing organza, halter-neck dresses that moved with the air, and draped silhouettes that felt romantic without trying too hard. There were also strong non-dress options that grounded the dream — mocha leather overalls worn half-unzipped, denim sets with bell sleeves and flared legs, and crisp white shirts with hand-stitched birds.
Zimmermann’s florals leaned into the psychedelic this time, warping across crinoline skirts and parachute dresses in tie-dye silks and tulle. Each look shimmered with movement, like watercolor brought to life. The craftsmanship was undeniable, from braided lace detailing to layered ruffles cut on the bias for volume.
Zimmermann has evolved far beyond resortwear. This collection was proof of a brand fully in its stride.
