Simone Bellotti’s debut at Jil Sander feels like the kind of minimalism that finally isn’t boring. Instead of slipping into safe, stripped-down basics, he brought a sleek precision that carried just enough surprise to keep things compelling. The collection balanced discipline and lightness, echoing the brand’s heritage while nudging it forward.
Tailoring was sharply executed, from high-buttoned coats to slim trousers with sly slits at the waistband. Leather blazers and outerwear, crafted with meticulous care, had a sculptural quality that gave quiet power. But what really stood out was the play between structure and exposure. Dresses with subtle cutouts or sheer layers revealed the body without veering into overt sexiness, it was a refined, intelligent kind of sexy.
Color gave the collection an edge too. A palette of sleek blacks, grays, and navies was punctuated with pinks, reds, and even a butter yellow, adding a striking rhythm to the restraint. Accessories, from square-toed lace-ups to sculptural pumps and the new Pivot bag, anchored the looks in real-world wearability.
Bellotti proved he’s not here to repeat history, but to reinterpret it. Minimalism, in his hands, doesn’t flatten, it sharpens.
