Bora Aksu’s Spring 2026 show was delicate, haunting, and quietly hopeful. Instead of looking outward for inspiration, Aksu turned to something deeply personal—his lifelong collection of broken Victorian dolls. These cracked, forgotten figures became the heart of a collection that celebrated imperfection, turning fragility into strength.
Set in a sunny Covent Garden garden, the atmosphere felt almost like a dream. Models floated in dresses layered with tulle, lace, and crochet, echoing the dolls’ frilled nightgowns and faded frocks. There was an iridescent lace gown, frothy prairie dresses in pale pink, and semi-sheer tulle pieces that revealed layers instead of hiding them. It was as if Aksu was peeling back the surface to show the beauty inside.
The collection balanced lightness and depth. Powdery pastels like peach and coral softened gothic black lace, while oversized sequins and playful checks added whimsy. There was sweetness, yes, but also a raw edge—ruffles left imperfect, fabrics layered unevenly, silhouettes that looked restored rather than pristine. These details captured Aksu’s message: beauty doesn’t come from being flawless, but from carrying history, cracks and all.
