After a year away from the runway, Jackson Wiederhoeft returned with a collection that felt both classic and daring, though not without its imperfections. Shown salon-style in his midtown atelier, the presentation was more intimate than his past theatrics, giving guests the chance to take in the details up close. And there were plenty of details to admire: gowns in fil coupé woven with vintage metallic threads, corsets sculpted with old-world precision, and embellishments that spoke to his signature love of fantasy.

The collection, titled “Lost Works,” was rooted in rediscovery. Wiederhoeft leaned heavily into his corseted gowns but also experimented with sturdier, unexpected fabrics like brushed wool and suiting. A slim strapless gown in peach wool and a double-breasted black suit hinted at a broader direction, one that extends his vision beyond bridal and eveningwear. These pieces added strength and structure to a lineup otherwise devoted to romance and opulence.

Still, while the ideas were delightful — classic concepts pushed into bold, over-the-top territory, some of the finishing felt unresolved. The grandeur was there, but a bit more refinement could have elevated the work even further.
