Catherine Holstein’s Spring 2026 collection for Khaite struck a balance between sharp experimentation and wearable elegance, even if at moments it felt uneven. The show opened with a leather blazer spliced at the sides and worn with dark denim and heels — a signature Khaite move that twisted the familiar into something new. From there, the collection explored contrasts: sleek tailoring against naïve embroideries, polished cocktail dresses offset by raw denim, and supersized polka dots recalling fun ease while still rooted in New York girtty minimalism.

There were undeniably gorgeous pieces here, clothes that felt made for the new generation of city women who want both confidence and ease. The cut-up blazers and stuffed-tulle bodices leaned into a sense of imperfection, Holstein’s attempt to show how beauty can come from insecurity and self-consciousness. It didn’t always land, some of the details bordered on overworked — but the effort gave the collection a sense of energy.

What kept things grounded was Holstein’s instinct for strong, wearable categories: denim, leather, and accessories. The cuffed jeans, sculptural bags, and boat shoe heels (yes, heels) stood out as clever evolutions of her brand’s codes. Even if the collection wasn’t as cohesive or striking as some past seasons, it offered a range of ideas that many women will connect with — an underwhelming moment here, a showstopper there, and overall a wardrobe that proves why Khaite remains one of the most relevant voices today.
