Anna Sui’s Spring 2026 show, Desert Blooms, felt like a sweet reminder of how fashion can be playful, free, and full of heart. It had that cutesy charm she does so well, with soft prints, layered textures, and clothes that let you move and live without overthinking. The collection leaned into a youthful spirit, but in a way that felt toned down and easy to wear.

Sui drew inspiration from the bohemian enclave of the Mabel Dodge Luhan House in Taos, New Mexico, where writers, artists, and free spirits like D.H. Lawrence, Georgia O’Keeffe, and later Dennis Hopper once gathered. That sense of escape and creative freedom carried through the clothes. Think lace-edged slips in pastel shades, pajama-like layers, cardigans thrown over babydolls, and little mixes of plaid, eyelet, and stripe. They were more insouciant than overtly sexy, carrying a relaxed, boho-boudoir mood.

The setting at the Hotel Chelsea only added to the sense of nostalgia. Like Sui’s recent book on the nineties, the collection channeled the feeling of a different time in fashion, one led more by passion than commerce. With vintage-store energy and a playful hand at layering, she gave her growing youthful fan base something fresh to love while staying true to her DNA. At its core, the collection was about being free at heart, and Sui made that feel both pure and true.
