As a self-professed Brandon Maxwell skeptic, I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised this season. His Spring 2026 show felt cohesive and desirable, almost powerful in the way it came together. The details were sharp, and for once, the collection had me fully paying attention.

Officially marking his ten-year anniversary, Maxwell chose not to dwell on nostalgia. Instead, he leaned into a future-focused mood that was optimistic and playful. Plaids came in vibrant tones, from blues to warm browns, woven into tailored jackets and skirts. Fringe spilled from knit dresses, zoo animal prints added a wink of humor, and Western accents like bolo ties, oversized buckles, and cowhide motifs grounded everything in his Texan roots.

What stood out most was the balance. For every polished jacket, there was a fluid silk dress or a voluminous nylon tracksuit sprouting red feathers. Eveningwear stayed a strong point too, with airy black, white, and red gowns styled as easily with thong sandals as with heels. It all felt more relaxed, less constricted, and much more in tune with how women actually want to dress.

Maxwell described the collection as tapping into childlike wonder, and that sense of joy came through. For a designer I’ve often dismissed, this was a reminder that growth and evolution can surprise you. Ten years in, Maxwell may have finally found his sweet spot.
