Inspired by the Sufi philosophy of love’s seven stages—attraction, infatuation, surrender, reverence, devotion, obsession, and death—this collection wasn’t just about clothing. It was about transformation. Love, Mishra suggests, isn’t something we fall into. It’s something we grow into—layer by layer, moment by moment.

Each stage of love was translated into a unique visual language. The opening lookma sweeping, gold-threaded dress sculpted into a heart set the tone for the emotional arc to follow. Later came a sheer bodice drenched in delicate pearls, shimmering like a final moment of clarity before surrender. These weren’t just showpieces. They were emotional expressions, crafted to reflect internal landscapes.

As the collection unfolded, the garments deepened in texture and complexity. Lotus flowers—symbols of devotion and divine energy in Indian mythology—bloomed from gowns, not as decorative flourishes, but as living metaphors. Klimt’s influence was subtly woven in through golden tones, swirling embroidery, and curved forms that framed faces like halos—blending European art history with Indian handcraft in a seamless visual dialogue.

The craft was exceptional. Mishra leaned heavily on traditional Indian techniques—zardozi, aari, dabka—executed by over 2,000 artisans. The result? A rich surface language made of resham threads, sequins, pearls, and metalwork, layered onto silks, tulles, and velvets. These garments weren’t just beautiful; they were built with intent, structure, and spirit.

Despite the collection’s theatricality, there was discipline in the silhouettes. Sculptural dresses balanced bold structure with softness. Even the most elaborate designs had a grounded elegance, revealing Mishra’s refined understanding of form. In the end Becoming Love, is nothing short of a visual love letter.
