Dimitra Petsa’s “Reflections of Desire,” felt like a departure from what made Di Petsa’s designs so compelling. While the show was packed with symbolism—lip prints, medieval iconography, angelic figures, and bridalwear turned on its head—it lacked the uniformity and cohesiveness needed to make a strong impact. Instead of a clear, driving force behind the collection, it felt like a collage of concepts that didn’t quite gel together. Mia Khalifa, who I love so much and is a personal style icon of mine, unfortunately walked in what was probably the ugliest outfit of the season.
The wet-look dresses returned in deep reds, blacks, and browns, but they felt like a footnote rather than a standout—except for one stunning black and red wet dress that stood out as a highlight of the show.
It’s not about clinging to the wet dress, because yes, a label can’t survive on one signature alone. But Di Petsa’s earlier work carried an energy and essence that felt missing here. The craftsmanship was still evident in the intricate draping, sculpted armor-like pieces, and delicate lace.
It felt like an attempt to intellectualize desire and sensuality rather than embody them. There were moments of beauty if you look hard.
