Inspired by Empress Elisabeth of Austria (better known as Sissi), Aksu delves into the contrast between fairytale imagery and the reality of a woman trapped in the expectations of royalty.
The collection played with this duality beautifully. Delicate, layered lace dresses and sheer tulle pieces created a sense of fragility, while the addition of black pom-poms and crocheted details hinted at something darker beneath the surface. Aksu’s signature romantic silhouettes took on an almost ghostly quality, as if Elisabeth’s legacy was haunting the runway. The black-and-white looks were especially striking—timeless, elegant, and full of quiet drama.
Styling was another strong point, complementing the collection’s themes without overpowering the pieces. Every detail felt intentional, from the way fabrics moved to the intricate textures woven into each look. Lace, jacquard, and taffeta came together in a way that felt rich and layered.
Adding another layer to the story, Aksu drew inspiration from Egon Schiele, the Austrian Expressionist painter known for his raw, distorted figures. The influence was clear in the pinstripe skirt suits and polka-dot lace dresses, which had an almost unsettling beauty to them.
