Inspired by the cult Australian film Picnic at Hanging Rock, the collection evoked a dreamy, ethereal mood that seamlessly transitioned into something darker and more mysterious. If you’re dreaming of channelling some White Lotus energy on your next getaway, Zimmermann has you covered.
The show opened with delicate, airy dresses in soft creams and peaches, evoking the innocence of the film’s schoolgirls. Lace lingerie-style dresses, fluttering handkerchief hems, and romantic ruffles created a whimsical mood, perfectly capturing the film’s surreal charm. As the collection unfolded, the palette deepened to moss greens and midnight blues, with textures ranging from delicate chiffon to substantial leather and Mongolian shearling. Snake prints and dark lace hinted at the eerie Australian bushland, adding a layer of intrigue to the narrative.
Zimmermann’s signature intricate detailing was ever-present. Victorian lace bibs and pinafores were reimagined as tops, while hand-drawn maps of Mount Macedon and vintage Valentine’s illustrations added depth to the designs. Standout pieces included indigo denim dresses with unexpected cutouts, liquid paisley fabrics, and high-necked lace bodysuits that felt like a Victorian take on modern shapewear.
Accessories complemented the collection beautifully, with silk scarves styled as belts, chunky buckle belts, and almond-shaped suede bags offering versatility. Polished-stone jewellery added a tactile, earthy element that grounded the collection’s dreamy aesthetic.
