Known for her hybrid creations, Chitose Abe dialled down the deconstruction this season and introduced a softer, more fluid approach to her signature styles. The collection felt like an embrace — a comforting response to the current climate of unease.

Abe reimagined familiar silhouettes by incorporating scarves seamlessly into jackets, allowing them to drape over one shoulder or hang loosely. This fluidity extended to wool blazers with integrated embellishments and ribbed hoodies paired with reflective, decorated cargo pants. Ponchos, crafted from puffer, wool, and fur, enveloped the models in warmth and protection, while mermaid skirts skimmed the body, bringing a delicate sensuality to the collection.

Embellishments added an unexpected touch — sequins along the legs of cargo pants, faux feathers flocked around anoraks, and faux shearling trimmed cocooning dresses and flat shoes. The real standout, however, was the tribute to Man Ray’s iconic photographs. His sensual imagery was transposed onto fur minidresses, button-down shirts, and T-shirts, giving the collection a deeply artistic narrative.

The Sacai woman has always embodied contrast, and this season was no different. Military jackets were softened with knitted panels, and tailored suiting was juxtaposed with chiffon and fringe knit panels, creating a layered, protective effect. Even Abe’s choice of footwear reflected this shift — gone were the towering platforms, replaced by faux-fur scuffs and low-heeled, slouchy boots.

Abe’s sensitivity to the modern woman’s needs was evident in every detail.
