This was undoubtedly one of the best collections of the season—memorable, impactful, and striking. Grounded in reality but rich with a luxe energy.
Inspired by a crumbling 19th-century maison on Avenue Marceau, the setting itself mirrored Hwang’s philosophy: where history and modernity collide.
The collection was a masterclass in construction and deconstruction. Hwang explored the intersection of tailored trench coats with dramatic zippered panels that peeled away, transforming garments into unexpected silhouettes. Ballooning chiffon capes and bubble skirts added a sense of extravagance, while menswear featured impeccably tailored flannel coats and jackets sliced open with multiple zips, paired with sleek bootcut high-waist trousers.
Eveningwear was where Hwang’s vision truly shined. His deconstructed take on a classic men’s jacket evolved into a slim, elegant black dress, while Edwardian micro-florals adorned trench-bubble hybrids and delicate skirts. The standout piece? A swathed, draped black dress with a ballooned ball skirt that, from a distance, looked like it might have been crafted from trash bags but revealed itself as a glossy techno-velvet masterpiece—perfectly aligned with the rising neo-goth fashion trend.
Hwang explored fabric manipulation, transforming structured wool into floral forms and experimenting with abstract dot patterns that created an illusion of movement. The juxtaposition of rigidity and fluidity was amplified by sculptural body pieces, adding a layer of visual intrigue.
Accessories followed the same narrative of reinvention. Deconstructed bags inspired by vintage finds at Portobello Market were reconstructed with layered sophistication, while footwear balanced breathable mesh with sculptural soles.
