Inspired by the Brontë sisters’ literary heroines, Creative Director Ian Griffiths seamlessly blended the disciplined elegance of Jane Eyre with the untamed spirit of Catherine Earnshaw. The result? A collection that speaks to the modern woman who embraces both her strength and her romantic sensibilities.

The show opened with bold declarations—teddy coats, field jackets, and a breathtaking madder red cashmere coat that set the tone for the drama to come. Soon, the palette softened to “casha,” a cold gray inspired by natural cashmere, providing the perfect backdrop for the interplay of textures and silhouettes. Corduroy, ribbed knits, and flecked cashmere capes reflected the rugged yet poetic landscape of the Yorkshire moors, a direct nod to the Brontës’ world.

Griffiths excelled at reinterpreting historical references for contemporary wear. Full skirts were cinched with bomber-jacket ribbing, while wide-leg wool and leather pants featured articulated knee seaming reminiscent of hiking gear. Outerwear remained the star, with oversized wrap coats, structured redingotes, and military-inspired greatcoats exuding authority while maintaining an air of romance. Handsome backpacks and dark flecked tweed poacher jackets reinforced the outdoorsy aesthetic, blurring the lines between countryside practicality and urban sophistication.

Eveningwear embraced gothic grandeur with black velvet gowns that channeled the mystery of a Brontë novel—dramatic, yet refined. Max Mara’s signature fabric expertise shone through, with lush double-face wool, tweeds, and delicate cashmere forming the backbone of the collection. Ultimately, “Untamed Heroine” is an ode to the complexity of womanhood—powerful yet poetic.
