This was a glamorous, texture-heavy trip through 1960s nostalgia, with clear nods to Valley of the Dolls and the era’s most iconic It-girls. The designer took the film’s feminine, almost theatrical flourishes and ran with them—sometimes beautifully, sometimes in a way that felt a little overdone.
The collection had some fantastic individual pieces. His signature duchesse satin dresses, heavily embellished and red-carpet-ready, were definite standouts. The laser-cut floral fabrics and sequins brought a sense of opulence, while the transparent raincoats added an unexpected rebellious edge to otherwise polished looks. Some of the best moments came from his mix of British tailoring and eveningwear, like tweed suits softened with crystal brooches and perfectly cut skirts with embroidered details.
But with so many textures—shredded faux fur, neoprene, sequins, tweed, and feathers—some looks felt a bit too busy. The feathered bonnets, for example, leaned into excess in a way that didn’t quite land. That said, Zhang’s technical craftsmanship is undeniable, and when his ideas worked, they really worked.
