Rooted in Jeanne Lanvin’s legacy, the collection sought to capture her ethos of “Le Chic Ultime” (quintessential chic) while making it relevant to a contemporary audience. One of the standout features of Copping’s collection was the emphasis on Lanvin’s archival motifs.
One of the standout moments was the elegant interplay between structure and fluidity. Copping drew inspiration from Jeanne Lanvin’s iconic robe de style, presenting it as a metallic lurex dress with a full petalled skirt—modern yet undeniably rooted in history. Silhouettes throughout were sleek and lengthened, often paying homage to the house’s historic mother-and-child emblem. A particularly striking piece was a black velvet column dress with a simple cascade of silver sequins draped over the shoulders, showcasing the designer’s restraint and mastery of minimal embellishment.
Outerwear played a leading role in the show. Soft, fluid trenches and reworked peacoats elevated the concept of Parisian staples. There was also a black leather overcoat, subtly nodding to 1920s driving coats, which exemplified the house’s cross-generational spirit. Copping’s approach to daywear was understated yet thoughtful—perfectly tailored, but not overpowering. His couture-like spiral-draped ribbon dresses added a touch of drama, while zigzag dévoré velvets and looser printed pieces balanced out the collection. Menswear—new territory for Copping—showed promise – Standout looks included a silver mirror-embroidered long-sleeve t-shirt and a sharp, minimal peacoat.
His use of Jeanne Lanvin’s personal colour, a sea-meets-sky blue, on accessories and subtle details, was another nod to heritage.
This was a beautiful, cohesive runway debut that promised plenty more to come.
