Think classic office pieces, but transformed—dress shirts scrunched like bandeaus, sweaters draped loosely, and slacks made club-ready with grommeted leather belts. Their knack for blending familiar workwear with unconventional twists keeps them a staple for New York’s fashion-forward crowd.
This season, Cao and Kay were inspired by Jacques Tati’s Playtime, infusing the film’s monochromatic corporate grid with techno-scene rebellion. The duo captured that in-between space: post-office drinks, pre-club uncertainty, or the limbo of Friday outfits. It’s a romantic take on life’s ambiguous moments—fitting, given their transatlantic leap from New York to Paris.
The photography connected well with the collection’s theme, evoking a dim, dead post-9 pm at the office vibe. I’m here for it.
