This Carolina Herrera collection was a love letter to transformation, beauty, and care—both for fashion and its wearers. Held on the 48th floor of the Solow Building with a snowy Central Park as its backdrop, the setting alone was enough to take your breath away. The runway, lined with 3,000 cherry-red ranunculus blooms, created a lush garden that echoed Gordon’s inspiration from Being There, the 1979 film starring Peter Sellers. The movie’s metaphor of tending a garden with thoughtful care was central to the collection’s ethos.

Florals took centre stage in almost every form imaginable. Handmade silk rosettes adorned waistlines, miniature rosette evening bags, and brooches. A standout piece featured sleek black trousers with a single large flower blossoming at the waistband—a bold yet elegant touch. Gordon injected a fresh, youthful energy into Herrera’s iconic white shirting by pairing oversized tunic-length versions with lace cage skirts. Meanwhile, tailored pinstriped suits with bandeau tops offered a flirtatious twist to classic corporate wear.

Sonia Delaunay’s painting Rhythm Color also influenced the collection’s colour palette. Deep reds, cobalt blues, and vibrant pinks mingled with timeless greys and whites. The harmonious pairing of these bold shades demonstrated Gordon’s mastery of colour theory. Gold metal tulip brooches added a cohesive touch to many outfits, tying in the ongoing brooch trend at New York Fashion Week.

Sheer lace embroidery played a starring role, especially in delicate gowns and chic lace separates. One cardigan, crafted with intricate lace detailing, managed to look modern and effortlessly sophisticated. Gordon’s talent for creating black-and-white looks stood out just as much as his use of bold colours.

Just as Chance the gardener nurtured his garden, Gordon nurtured Herrera’s heritage, ensuring that all is well—and all will continue to be well.
