This Prada collection, by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, offered a thoughtful exploration of uniforms, weaving together themes of care, responsibility, and quiet beauty. At its core, the collection celebrated the unsung heroes of our world—nurses and soldiers—by transforming their utilitarian attire into luxurious yet wearable fashion. Nurse-inspired white dresses, complete with collars, pockets, and long trains, felt both humble and grand. Military references were reimagined through parkas with elegant Watteau backs, tapered trousers paired with army shirts, and capes reminiscent of WWII-era uniforms. The stark white cotton fabric emphasized humility but radiated confidence.
What stood out most was the collection’s emphasis on versatility. Wedding dress-inspired skirts, ranging from voluminous to pencil styles, were paired with understated crewneck sweaters, making them accessible for everyday wear. The muted palette of whites, grays, and neutrals was punctuated by pops of bold color, like firetruck red and sunshine yellow, adding depth and energy to the lineup.
Boxy blazer-jacket hybrids in leather, oversized cape coats, and puffed jackets with structured silhouettes all made an appearance. These pieces were designed with layering in mind, making them versatile for different occasions.
Evening dresses, while minimal, had thoughtful details like gathers, folds, and asymmetrical draping. Accessories rounded out the looks beautifully. Shoes featured origami-like floral details that felt delicate yet modern, while structured handbags gave a nod to functionality. The detailing—be it floral appliqués on skirts or geometric prints on draped dresses—added just enough flair without overshadowing the collection’s quiet elegance.
Prada and Simons succeeded in creating a collection that felt deeply personal yet universally resonant. Prada and Simons proved that fashion doesn’t have to be loud to make an impact.
