Titled “Sarabande,” it was a masterful exploration of fragility and decaying beauty, encapsulated by the now-iconic finale dress adorned with fresh, frozen flowers. As the model gracefully walked the runway, petals began to fall, creating a poetic moment of impermanence—a dress that seemed to live and die before our eyes. The orchestra’s swelling crescendo and the dimming chandelier sealed the show in a manner only McQueen could deliver.
The collection itself was a love letter to McQueen’s romanticism, steeped in historical references. Edwardian-style jackets with fitted bodices were paired with flowing chiffon blouses and long skirts, creating a blend of structure and softness. Corseted dresses exaggerated the hips and featured intricate lace-covered skirts, giving them a dramatic yet romantic feel. The muted color palette—dusty gray, ivory, and faded pink—added to the delicate, almost ghostly vibe of the pieces. Slim gray pants were paired with flowing tunics, like one made of layers of dusty-rose lace and another with hints of gold leaf.
McQueen brought together history, emotion, and breathtaking craftsmanship to remind everyone why his work stands in a league of its own.
