Drawing inspiration from the flamboyant designs of Larry LeGaspi, Owens paid homage to the Seventies-era designer who crafted iconic looks for Kiss and Grace Jones. For Owens, LeGaspi’s bold, taboo-breaking aesthetic shaped his own vision, offering a liberating creative spark during his California youth.
The runway was alive with contrasts—sharp-shouldered coats reminiscent of Kiss’s theatrical style met the sculptural elegance of Charles James, another of Owens’s muses. Jewel-toned gowns draped and twisted around the models, echoing James’s couture craftsmanship while embracing modern, figure-hugging lines. Even accessories nodded to LeGaspi, with lightning bolt charms adorning bold red leather bags.
Owens’s tribute wasn’t just about the clothes. Collaborating with Instagram artist Salvia, the show embraced body-mod makeup, adding a futuristic, almost otherworldly edge. Towering platform boots and striking leather bodysuits carried the rock-and-roll spirit forward, while tailored coats and silver-dipped outerwear brought a streetwise sophistication.
“I needed some grim, determined glamour,” Owens said backstage. And he delivered.
