Inspired by a quiet walk through Japanese woods, he brought the beauty of nature to the runway with incredible creativity. The collection was filled with earthy tones—greens, browns, and even splashes of bright hunter orange. It was as if the forest itself had come alive in fabric.
The show opened with wood-grain prints that appeared on everything from slinky catsuits to tailored coats, creating a rustic yet luxurious vibe. As the models strutted down a wooden plank runway, the sounds of nature played softly in the background, setting a tranquil tone. The palette was earthy—rich browns, deep greens, and pops of hunter orange—evoking the colors of an autumn forest.
Gaultier didn’t stop at subtlety; his designs embraced nature with theatrical flair. Lumberjack plaids were reimagined as flowing evening gowns and tailored skirts, while giant backpacks trimmed with lace and fox fur added a playful edge. Moss green gowns and tiered lime-green dresses brought a vibrant, almost tropical twist to the collection. The pièce de résistance? A bride in a dramatic, veiled headpiece resembling a moonlit forest scene.
True to form, Gaultier infused the show with his signature humor and drama. Delicate petals adorned the models’ lips, and hairpieces shaped like tree roots added a touch of fantasy. While the collection captured the serene beauty of nature, it also celebrated the bold extravagance that defines haute couture.
“It’s all about Zen and nature,” Gaultier explained. And yet, his interpretation was anything but subdued.
