As Fendi marks its centennial year, the Italian fashion house pays homage to its rich history while embracing a modern, forward-thinking vision. The collection, designed by Kim Jones, is a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation, drawing inspiration from the 1920s while remaining firmly rooted in contemporary aesthetics.

The collection is a celebration of femininity and empowerment, reflecting the spirit of the women who have shaped Fendi’s history. From the founder, Adele Fendi, to the current generation of designers, the brand has always been synonymous with elegance, luxury, and a strong sense of self.

Throughout the collection, there is a strong emphasis on layering and juxtaposition. Gauzy, sheer dresses are paired with sturdy work boots, creating a contrast that feels both nostalgic and contemporary. The collection’s overall aesthetic feels somewhat dated. he collection’s reliance on 1920s-inspired elements feels somewhat predictable. While the Art Deco motifs and fringe details are visually appealing, they lack the freshness and originality that one would WANT  from Fendi. However, there is some good news for Fendi. Kim Jones, the Artistic Director of Couture and Womenswear, has recently announced his departure from the brand to focus on his role at Dior Men’s. While this is an objective loss for Fendi, it opens the door for a new creative vision to take the helm and potentially revitalize the brand. It remains to be seen who will fill Jones’ shoes and what direction they will take Fendi in the future.
