The concept of flight and freedom was clearly central, with feathers, flowing fabrics, and lightness featured heavily throughout the collection. While these elements made for beautiful imagery, the execution of these ideas felt somewhat repetitive. The tweed, which remains Chanel’s signature, was given a refreshing twist with pastel hues and some playful slits in the skirts, but at times, the fabric felt overused. It was reimagined in a variety of ways—pastel-colored, sparkly, and even in short suits—but the numerous iterations of tweed became redundant, especially when juxtaposed against some of the more experimental pieces like the denim jackets embellished with sequins. While these were intriguing, they didn’t quite gel with the overall tone of the collection. The collection also struggled to find a balance between playful and classic, with some looks feeling too casual or youthful, as if the designs were trying too hard to appeal to a younger demographic without fully committing to that direction.
While there were standout pieces—such as the aviator jackets and the ethereal chiffon capes—there was a sense that Chanel, in the absence of a creative director, is trying to find its footing. The collection felt like a half-step forward, still tethered to tradition but lacking the daring vision that could set it apart. As Chanel waits to appoint its next creative lead, this collection felt like a placeholder, more concerned with maintaining brand continuity than making a bold statement.
