Matthieu Blazy’s collection was inspired by the idea of “wow, the wonder you have as a kid when you try something,” Blazy presents a collection that is both conceptual and coolly everyday.

The collection’s theme of childhood is reflected in the exaggerated proportions and mismatched elements, as if a child has raided their parents’ closet and played dress-up. The oversized jackets and one-leg pants under asymmetrical wrap skirts evoke a sense of playful experimentation. Accessories, such as the grocery bag-inspired clutches and the one-of-a-kind bags made with leather vests, add to the whimsical and nostalgic atmosphere.

Blazy masterfully combines humor and high craftsmanship, balancing light-hearted elements like frogs perched on dresses with elevated essentials, such as flannel-inspired shirts and tailored suits. His ability to merge the conceptual with the everyday is evident, whether through innovative accessories like the revamped Andiamo bag or bold, vibrant pieces like an orange draped dress. Yet, beneath the collection’s playful surface lies Blazy’s serious attention to detail and craftsmanship, as seen in his reimagined leather pieces and intricate handwork.

Blazy’s designs remind us to play, experiment, and bring a sense of wonder to our everyday style. Though the collection might appear frivolous, it is a calculated move for a luxury label with a reputation for exclusivity and heritage.
