Guo Pei’s “Elysium” couture collection was a fantastical journey into a world of myth and nature. Held at the Le Cirque d’Hiver Bouglione in Paris, the show transformed the stage into a lush, otherworldly garden.
Drenched in hues from mysterious blues to radiant gold, symbolized the celestial cycle of dawn and dusk, while white represented purity and beauty. The thematic evolution from mysterious blue to radiant gold symbolized the journey from dawn to joyous eternity in Elysium.
Inspired by the Greek mythological paradise, the collection featured richly embellished clothes with flowers, feathers, and crystals. Models wore gothic crowns and fantastical halos, with innovative fabrics and materials. One striking piece was a dress made entirely of bamboo, covered in golden flowers. The opening look, an ornate gold dress with golden flowers and stems sprouting from the neckline, was made of woven bamboo from Huangshan. With a thematic focus on Life, the collection brought to life a fantastical universe where mermaids, elves, princesses and deities converged in harmony.
