Vetements challenge capitalism using fashion, incorporating corporate symbols, social critique, and revamped currency imagery. Gvasalia’s ironic uniform designs spark discussion on fashion’s future ownership and circular economy. Using McDonald’s as a backdrop, the designs featured oversized security guard uniforms, leather coats, and slogan hoodies critiquing consumerism, leather boot pants and a load of patchwork pieces. While making a bold statement, he reinvigorates Vetements with desirable, boundary-pushing designs offering a thoughtful and democratic vision for the brand’s future.
