Clothes by Azzedine Alaïa were never conservative but if there was a connection that lean in that direction it was this one. We saw big collared trench coats, sharply tailored coat dresses, body-hugging knit dresses sculpted to perfection, and some flowy shiny bias-cut minidresses. The collection was mostly in black with pops of yellow, orange red here and there. Alaïa was never a minimalist but his clothes carried a sense of sophisticated simplicity is hard to come by, especially when paired with his signature seductive appeal. This collection portrayed exactly that.
