Started in predominantly black and white, there were A-line shifts, three-piece pantsuits, tuxedo interpretations and preppy minidresses. The collection then moved to saturated neon solids: we saw skirt suits, minidresses, and flowy gowns. There was a ’60s-meets-schoolgirl aura to the clothes, amusing yet sophisticated. The contrast between the first half and the second half of the show is too glaring to miss; there is a sense of disconnection between the two, something Ralph rarely does. I believe this is his way of showing the essence of a multifaceted woman, from the understated polish of black and white to the bold vivacity of color.
