This collection exudes unapologetic playfulness and pays homage to early 2000s fashion while keeping the brand’s energetic renaissance in full swing. When this collection originally came out I was concerned about the brand would manage to navigate these trendy waters. But now after seeing their many collections after this one, they have been able to build upon their aesthetic and move forward with cohesion. Now it feels like a perfect representation of ultra trendy Y2K energy we had going there for a while.

Ruffled cardigans and super short shorts were quite cute; butterfly tops, sheer embroidered gowns, cargo tracksuits, embellished logo belts, tiny skirts and hot pants were just some 00s elements present here. Not to say that the clothes weren’t pretty but the lack of body types and sizes in this collection points to the assumption that they are marketing to a very specific market.

With a deliberate blend of playful and provocative elements – the boldly unapologetic clothes toe the line between delightfully tacky and chic. Nicola Brognano’s aim with these clothes – make it impossible for the Blumarine girls to blend in with the crowd. And I love that!
