The balance between daywear and evening wear was struck perfectly. I think Pierpaolo Piccioli has found his sweet spot Valentino where he can experiment with his prominent yet inventive aesthetic. Piccioli’s mission is to deconstruct Haute Couture to its core, highlighting the refined and graceful forms, and uncovering the pinnacle of skillful artistry that can be achieved through such exploration.

The focus on Men’s Couture was wise, and it was executed remarkably well. Even among the beautiful dramatic gowns, the winner of this collection was the sober and elegant menswear. Bonus points diversity on the runway; it is a rare sight to see such inclusivity in the couture. Piccioli aimed to adorn women of diverse body types, and the outcome was stunningly chic. Despite beautiful clothes, some felt that there was something slightly off about this collection – perhaps it was the lack of cohesion between certain pieces

Piccioli captures the diverse and open essence of today – this collection makes a case for limitless fluid beauty. Clothes that feel like conventional Couture, but are more than that.
