This is the collection that gave us that iconic look! Honestly, anything that Mrs. Prada does is automatically my favourite-I think it actually might be a problem. But this connection deserves every bit of love and drool. The collection ‘Basic Instincts’ brought back micro mini skirts.
Before this collection Miu Miu was a fashion favorite but was still relatively niche, this collection catapulted the brand to massive mainstream media. Every influencer, every magazine cover, every wish list and every other Instagram post was about the slashed tiny school girl esqe set. I totally get it, it was dangerously hot!
Miuccia Prada told Another Mag “To cut is powerful – it is a direct action, something very basic that can have enormous impact,” which further resulted in slashed raw edges on everything. The boring old work uniform has gone through a bold seductive revamp, Mrs. Prada said “Rather than trying to invent anew, we wanted to celebrate and elevate these universal archetypes of dress,”. Might I say it’s the best Y2K-inspired collection yet, brazen yet subtle. The raw edges, bare abs, belt, ultra-low waits, muted colors and seductive silhouettes all come to get to present an authoritative sensual woman. A few embellished-embroidered looks in pretty pastels gave us fitting looks for a chic night out!
