This Balmain collection is a testament and representation of
Olivier Rousteing’s brazen flair for bold theatrical clothes. Vibrant colors and strategic seductive cutouts are placed onto everything, from sharply tailored suiting to sweeping silk trails. The collection was partly inspired by the late 90s/early 00s with some iconic Lindsay Lohan, Christina Aguilera and Destiny’s Child blasting in the background.
Reviving the ’80s vibe, this Balmain collection rocks spirited color blocking, fierce shoulder cuts, sequins, paillettes, and sleek sunnies. With a massive 102-piece lineup, the lineup pays homage to the iconic styles of Grace Jones, Claude Montana, Chanel and Frank Stella. The collection featured attention-grabbing pieces – one-legged pants, oversized denim blazers, silver lamé leggings, pleated silk trains, flowing bell bottoms and fringed dresses. The collection ended up with some black-and-white tuxedo-inspired looks.
Despite the vast array of styles and motifs, the collection was held together by strong cohesion; Rousteing’s keen eye for detail ensured that each look was carefully curated. This show is the ultimate terminus for powerful and statement-making outfits offering abstract patterns and bright, eye-catching colors. The show was a celebration of creativity and individuality. Rousteing’s bold, unapologetic approach to design was on full display, inspiring everyone in the audience to embrace their unique sense of style and self-expression. It was a true visual feast for the senses and an example of the pull of fashion to evoke emotion and ignite the imagination.
