It’s impossible to escape the beauty of this collection!

Jean Paul Gaultier enlisted Y/Project‘s Glenn Martens to design its Spring 2022 Haute Couture collection. Martens was the second guest couturier to do so in a series of planned seasonal takeovers of the brand, following Sacai’s Chitose Abe’s turn last season.

“Gaultier was one of the greatest inventors in fashion history, and I took the things that touched me and tried to reinvent them in a Y/Project way,” Martens told i-D

The Belgian designer is known for his experimental takes on clothing construction at the helm of Y/Project. For this collection, Martens’s innovative signatures reverberate throughout while honoring the distinctive essence of Gaultier. The collection reimagines Jean Paul Gaultier‘s codes and heritage with a joyful and modern touch. The garments bring historical references and dramatic allure that JPG is known for.

“I am happy, extremely happy, insanely happy … [the collection] is me, my world. And at the same time it is something that goes beyond my own history and projects it into the future.” Jean Paul Gaultier told lofficielusa

The result is a refreshingly refined interpretation of the brand that has remained in our minds to this day. Glenn Martens gives us that sweet nostalgia thrill through the immaculate craftsmanship of the JPG atelier.

A true all-time favorite!
