Rei Kawakubo stood out uniquely, skillfully utilizing shape and color to their fullest extent in this collection. She breaks free from her black obsession here and created a stir with her sensational use of vibrant hues. This collection is all about bold hues and structured volume, crafted through flat construction techniques. Although the silhouettes were stiffly inflated, the clothes still exuded a joyful charm due to the designer’s mastery of solid, vivid colors.

The collection also featured delightful prints like polka dots, florals, and camo, as well as intriguing textures such as lux velvet and subtle sequins for eveningwear. No doubt about it, every piece had some serious artistic appeal, but only a select few have real-world practicality. And let’s be real, only Rei could make traditionally questionable giant felted wool prints look absolutely couture-like.
